Overview
XRay ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that calculates reputation scores for X/Twitter profiles. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Data We Collect
The XRay extension collects and processes the following information:
- Wallet Address: Your Ethereum wallet address when you connect via MetaMask. This is used to identify you on the blockchain and distribute XRAY token rewards.
- Profile Data Analyzed: When you calculate a score, we analyze publicly available X/Twitter profile information (username, follower counts, account age, bio text). This data is processed locally in your browser.
- On-Chain Submissions: When you submit a score to the blockchain, the username, score, and your wallet address become part of the public Base blockchain record.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your X/Twitter login credentials
- We do not collect your private keys or seed phrases
- We do not track your browsing history outside of X/Twitter
- We do not sell any data to third parties
- We do not use cookies for tracking
How We Use Data
- Score Calculation: Profile data is processed locally in your browser to calculate reputation scores. No profile data is sent to our servers for scoring.
- Blockchain Storage: Submitted scores are stored permanently on the Base blockchain (a public Ethereum L2). This is by design - reputation data should be transparent and immutable.
- Rewards Distribution: Your wallet address is used to distribute XRAY token rewards for contributions.
Third-Party Services
- Base Blockchain: Score submissions are stored on Base (base.org), a public blockchain. All on-chain data is publicly visible.
- MetaMask: We interact with MetaMask for wallet connection and transaction signing. We never have access to your private keys.
- X/Twitter: We read publicly available profile information from pages you visit on X/Twitter.
Data Retention
- Local Storage: Your wallet address and preferences are stored locally in your browser. You can clear this by removing the extension.
- Blockchain Data: Scores submitted to the blockchain are permanent and cannot be deleted. This is a feature of blockchain technology.
Your Rights
- You can disconnect your wallet at any time
- You can uninstall the extension to remove all local data
- You can choose not to submit scores on-chain
- On-chain data cannot be deleted due to the immutable nature of blockchain
Security
We implement security best practices:
- All API communications use HTTPS encryption
- We never request or store private keys
- Transaction signing happens exclusively in MetaMask
- The extension code is open source and auditable
Children's Privacy
XRay is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the extension or our website.
